Camp Spirit Day Camp

Providence Day brings classic fun back to summer with a full-day experience that inspires curiosity, camaraderie, and confidence. Camp Spirit — named for the PD Charger mascot — offers a safe, welcoming environment for kids to explore their interests and develop those classic camp friendships.

At Camp Spirit, your child joins a “cabin” group based on rising grade level. Reminiscent of sleep-away camp, two caring counselors stay with the cabin cohort all day and lead the campers through a variety of activities like kickball, yoga, and water play. Thoughtful programming balances the mental with the physical, the individual with the group, and the creative with the structured.

Weekly themes keep the programming fresh while the integrated activities reinforce learning and promote meaningful connections within the community. Your child is challenged and empowered by day, then returns to the comforts of home at night. Nearly 200 campers attended our inaugural year last summer, creating new traditions with a team of Providence Day teachers, alumni, and student counselors. At Camp Spirit, every day is fun, unique, and just as memorable as the day before.

Includes lunch and two snacks daily (provided by Flik Independent School Dining). Campers should bring the following each day: bathing suit, towel, water shoes, refillable water bottle. Please label all items. Recommended: sunscreen!

Camp Spirit is directed by Providence Day English Teacher Marcus Smith, whose work at Paul Newman's the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a traditional summer camp for kids coping with serious illness, gave him a love and appreciation for the summer camp experience. Marcus holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University and a Masters from Harvard Divinity School and has been in the classroom since 1993. As Director of Camp Spirit, he hopes to bring what the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp calls a "feeling of endless possibility" to Providence Day's Camp Spirit.
