This course is a combination of an in-class foundation and practical independent experience. Each student must take two consecutive weeks of on-campus instruction (June 13-24) followed by three weeks of independent workouts monitored by the instructor (June 27-July 15). Attendance at one of the two Fitness Testing days (July 14-15 or July 28-29) is mandatory from 12:30-1:30pm. A strict attendance policy will be enforced; students may be absent for only one day during the on-campus portion (June 13-24). Independent workouts are tracked using online blogs. Students are required to spend 1.5 hours working out and journaling per day. Students are not required to be on campus during the second three weeks, with the exception of the end-of-course fitness test.

Students may earn one half-unit of credit (i.e. semester credit) in summer toward the 1.5 physical education credits required for graduation. This course satisfies a P.E. Lifetime Wellness credit requirement (0.5 credit). *PDS students may take for credit. If the course has already been taken during the school year, summer credit will not be given. This course may not be repeated for credit.
