This independent-study course is designed for self-motivated students who are ready to acknowledge fitness as it will be when they leave PDS. Students will be responsible for reaching their fitness goals on their own time, through various venues. A physical education teacher will monitor them through online journals and activity monitors. Additionally, students are required to complete food journals, a fitness portfolio, and a pre- and post-fitness test. Students who are interested in this course must have a current membership to a fitness center or be able to come to the school wellness center for certain activity requirements. Additionally, students will be required to purchase a Polar Bluetooth heart-rate monitor to be used in conjunction with a smartphone as well as the Lifetime Fitness iBook. Students must meet the requirements of the course – no exceptions. Students unable to meet scheduled on-campus dates (see below) will incur a tutoring fee to accommodate their schedule. Prerequisite: P.E. - Summer Lifetime Wellness AND rising Juniors & Seniors only. *PDS students may take for credit.
