Stones, Bones, and Dirt

Ever wonder how real archaeologists excavate a site? How they preserve the artifacts they find? How do they use that information to reconstruct the lives of ancient peoples? Join former archaeologist (and PDS librarian) Janna Miller for a very hands-on camp! We will have a mock dig using real techniques with a lab to process, preserve, and reconstruct artifacts. We will make ancient tools, test our spear throwing skills, play ancient games, and look at many aspects of experimental archaeology. We will study ancient cultures as well as focus on local archaeology so that campers can learn to recognize the history all around them. Expect to get dirty and learn amazing things about our past!

Mrs. Janna Miller has been a librarian at PDS since 2007. She includes jewelry making and balloon animal artistry among her many talents and interests.
