Areas of Interest Definitions

Here is a quick definition of our Areas of Interest. Use the corresponding Tags on the Specialty Camps page to narrow your search and find just the right program for your child.

Academic Enrichment
Our programs in math, reading, writing and more give students a boost as thought turns to the upcoming school year.

The Arts
"The camp was so much fun that the kids didn’t even realize how much they were learning....really a must for any student!"
-- Michelle, parent of a Creative Writing Institute camper

Let your child’s creative side shine in one of our many arts camps taught by experienced teachers from PDS and from CreativeKids. Experts in the fine arts and the performing arts help campers express themselves in a relaxed, fun environment.

Fun is the main ingredient in our deliciously educational cooking camps with Mrs. Balzer. A yummy summer awaits your child.

Games & Hobbies
Curb your child’s boredom! These games and hobbies will keep them interested while they learn valuable life skills such as persistence, perseverance, and good sportsmanship.

Health & Wellness
Take care of the body AND mind in camps that focus on your camper’s well-being. We offer a variety of opportunities for boys and girls to learn and develop habits for lifelong health.

Ukulele, drums....we make music all summer long in programs that get fingers a-strummin' and toes a-tappin'.

Your tender-hearted camper will enjoy helping others in our service-focused programs. Trips to area service organizations allow your child to make meaningful contributions to those in need.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math….our STEM camps incorporate the disciplines that help kids advance in school and achieve their goals. Programs in coding, web development and more will challenge your camper. And they’re FUN, too!

Traditional Day Camp
Let your child decompress at Charger Chill Day Camp, or experience classic fun while participating in an ever-changing lineup of enriching activities at Camp Spirit. These two camps ensure plenty of time to play, relax, and enjoy being a kid.

Drama kings and queens can soak up the applause in CreativeKids' multi-week theater productions. An audition and release of parts prior to the start of the camp helps ease the suspense and ensure a smooth start to each production. Auditions will be held May 15, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., OR May 16, 1-3 p.m., in the McMahon Fine Arts Center theater at Providence Day School.

Looking for something more low-key? One-week Black Box productions give your child a taste of the theater without an audition requirement.
