Camp Spirit - NEW!

For nearly 50 years, Providence Day School has educated children and forged traditions through ground-breaking programs and a commitment to excellence. Now PD brings tradition to summer with Camp Spirit, a new day camp that fosters a sense of community, stimulates positive relationships, and values the whole child.

At Camp Spirit, children are placed into groups based on rising grade level, and two counselors stay with each group all day:

  •    Ponies: TK-K
  •    Mustangs: 1-2
  •    Thoroughbreds: 3-4

A team of Activity Specialists leads campers in a rotation of activities throughout the 2-week session, including arts & crafts, sports, water play, outdoor adventure, and more. Providence Day School alumni and students serve as Lead and Junior Counselors while faculty build and execute much of the programming.

Corral Time to Round-Up

Campers start each day as a community during Corral Time, gathering at the Levin Extended Day House for a preview of the day. Following a morning of activities, campers enjoy a delicious lunch by Flik Dining and cool off inside. Flik also provides two snacks daily.  Afternoon activities end with the daily Round-Up where the entire camp joins together before heading home.

Sample of Activities
Water Play    Wildlife Demonstration    Letter Writing
   Sports    Beekeeping    Gardening
Guided Meditation    Arts & Crafts    Dance
Chess    Yoga     Personal & Home Safety

Each day is curated to connect ideas, activities, and themes that balance the mental with the physical, the individual with the group, the indoor with the outdoor, and the creative with the structured.  The integrated schedule reinforces camper learning, broadens their exposure, and furthers their interests.

Camp Spirit is led by Providence Day English Teacher Marcus Smith, whose work at Paul Newman's the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a traditional summer camp for kids coping with serious illness, gave him a love and appreciation for the summer camp experience. Marcus holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University and a Masters from Harvard Divinity School and has been in the classroom since 1993. As Director of Camp Spirit, he hopes to bring what the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp calls a "feeling of endless possibility" to Providence Day's Camp Spirit.
